About: Prepaid Billing

Overview

To enjoy your Prepaid service without interruption, youll need to have enough top-up credit on your account to pay for your rate plan and any additional Add-Ons associated with your account.

We recommend a “set-it-and-forget-it” approach by signing up for Auto Pay for your monthly wireless payments, which may also allow you to redeem the Digital Discount promotion.

If you are subscribed to Freedom Prepaid By The Year or Multi-Month plans, we do not recommend signing up for Auto Pay, as your preferred payment method will be charged automatically each month.

Prepaid Payments and your Due Date

The payment due date for your Prepaid service is based on the date your service was originally activated. You will need to have enough balance to cover your rate plan fees and any additional Add-Ons on your due date, or your service will be suspended temporarily. You will also need to top up extra to use services that are not included in your plan e.g., international long-distance, roaming.

Sales tax on Prepaid service is charged at the time of purchase. If you're topping up using a voucher, make sure the amount covers your plan fees, pay-per-use charges and the 911 levy (if applicable). Taxes are added at checkout, so you don’t need to include them in your top-up amount.

If you make a payment online or set up Auto Pay, the amount you enter doesn’t include tax, the taxes will be added during checkout. Learn more about tax on Freedom service

Important: Prepaid funds are non-refundable, so we recommend only adding funds for services youre confident youll use. Prepaid payments are not eligible for trial period refunds.

Exceptions: Pay Your Way plans have a service life that is determined by how much you top up. Any money you have in your account at the end of your service life is also non-refundable.

Missed Payments

Late Payment - Partial Suspension

If you are a Prepaid customer and forget to top up your plan fee:

  • your data and outbound services will be suspended,

  • incoming calls and text messages will still work, and

  • any unused top-up balance in your account will be on hold.

To reinstate your service, you must top up in full, for plan and Add-Ons fees.

Missed Payment - Full Suspension

If you still do not top up:

  • all remaining services will become disabled, and

  • you will be at risk of losing your phone number and forfeiting any unused top-up balance.

Topping up before your due date will help avoid any service interruptions. If you are on a monthly Prepaid plan we recommend signing up for Auto Pay.

Service Cancellations

We will reserve your phone number for 90 days after the service is suspended, but after that we reserve the right to deactivate and re-use it.

Topping up for a partial month

If you top up after your due date, you will still need to pay 100% of your plan and Add-On fees. However, if you are subscribed to a monthly Prepaid plan we will prorate the monthly fees and provide a credit to your top-up balance after your service is reactivated. The prorated amount will be based on the following schedule:

  • 1-10 days past due: None

  • 11-20 days past due: 33.3%

  • 21-30 days past due: 66.6%

If you're subscribed to an extended-term Prepaid plan—such as Freedom Prepaid By The Year or a Multi-Month plan, you'll need to pay 100% of your plan and Add-On fees to reactivate your service. Proration is not available for extended-term plans, but your due date will reset to the date you top up.
