Securing your Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network

Your home Wi-Fi network can be set to either protected or open. Having an open network means that anyone within range of your network can connect and use your Internet service. A protected network asks for a password anytime someone tries to connect.

The Freedom Wi-Fi Gateway comes pre-configured with a wireless password. This password can be found on the bottom of the device. During initial setup, you should be prompted to set a network name and password of your choice.

Wi-Fi Gateway Name/Password

Your Wi-Fi network name and password are the combination that you use to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

To change the password or network name (SSID) for your Wi-Fi network, you will need to log into the Wi-Fi Gateway configuration page which will allow you to configure various settings related to your Wi-Fi network.

To update the name or password for your Freedom Wi-Fi Gateway, follow the steps below to change your network name or password:

1. Open any Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc...) and navigate to the address bar at the top of the page. Enter the following: 10.0.0.1, and then hit the enter key on your keyboard:

4. Select the Edit button beside either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz to change the Password or Network Name (SSID) for that network.
