About: The Connection Fee

Overview

Effective June 12, 2026, Freedom Mobile will no longer charge a connection fee. This applies to new services, including new subscribers and additional lines or when you complete a device upgrade.

This means you will no longer pay a fee to access the Freedom network and related services or to receive a new SIM Card when one is required as part of activating a service or upgrading a device.

A $10 fee (plus applicable taxes) will continue to apply for replacement SIM cards due to loss, theft, damage or if you request a SIM card without activating service.

Postpaid Service

A $45 connection fee will continue to be apply to Postpaid service when service is first activated and for upgrades performed online, in-store or via Customer Care, up to and including June 11, 2026. Any connection fee incurred on or before June 11, 2026, will be charged to your first invoice following your activation or upgrade.

If you received a promotional monthly credit towards the connection fee, the credit will continue to apply in accordance with it’s terms and conditions until the credit is fully applied.

Prepaid Service

A $10 upfront top up payment may still apply when activating Prepaid service even after June 12, 2026. An equivalent credit will be applied to the line once your service is activated by topped up.
