About: Group Messaging

Overview

Group Messaging is the ability to send text, picture, and video messages between multiple recipients of a group conversation using multimedia messaging (MMS).

Requirements

To have a successful group conversation, all recipients of the message will need:

1. Carrier support: To have a successful group messaging conversation, all recipients of the message will need to be with a carrier that supports Group Messaging. With your Freedom Mobile phone, you’ll be able to send Group Messages to the following Canadian networks:

  • Bell

  • Rogers

  • Telus

  • Videotron

  • Eastlink (may display “Subject: No Subject / Sans Objet” with each message)

  • Sasktel (may not receive some messages if sending large sized images)

You’ll also be able to send Group Messages on the following US networks, with your Freedom Mobile phone:

  • T-Mobile

  • Verizon

  • AT&T

2. Compatible device: Compatibility depends on the manufacturer, device model and messaging application being used. Most modern smartphones will support Group Messaging.

3. Updated network setting: For group messaging to work properly, you may have to update your network settings. This can be done automatically by sending a text to a short code which will send settings to your phone to help configure internet and network access.
