How do I connect to Freedom WiFi?

Freedom customers have access to more than 100,000 WiFi hotspots that make up the ShawPasspoint WiFi network across Western Canada. If you purchased your device from Freedom, your Freedom SIM card is in your device and your WiFi is enabled, you'll automatically connect to the ShawPasspoint network when you're near a WiFi hotspot.

If you did not purchase your device from Freedom, you may need to manually connect to the ShawPasspoint network.

iOS

Freedom WiFi is only available for iPhone 6 and newer, running a minimum iOS 13. You’ll also need to install any available Carrier Bundle updates.

Android

Always ensure you’ve updated your Android phone to the latest OS version. If your Android device does not automatically connect to Freedom WiFi when you are near a WiFi hotspot, follow the steps below to get connected:

  1. Select ShawPasspoint from the available WiFi network options.

  2. Under EAP Method, select AKA (not AKA’)

  3. Tap Connect
