PNE and Freedom Mobile partner on new grant program to support local artists and BC's arts community.

08/16/2025

Today the PNE and Freedom Mobile announced the launch of a brand-new Arts & Culture Grant Program designed to support and uplift artists and creatives in our province. A grand total of over $600,000 will be awarded by Freedom Mobile over the duration of the program.

This exciting initiative is part of a 12-year strategic partnership announced in 2024, which includes naming rights for the Freedom Mobile Arch— the PNE’s future flagship venue for music, culture, and community. As part of this collaboration, the PNE in collaboration with Freedom Mobile is investing in opportunities that deepen arts and cultural engagement in British Columbia.

“For generations the PNE has played a significant role in the cultural sector of our province. Today’s announcement, made possible through the incredible partnership with Freedom Mobile, is the next step towards our role in supporting and uplifting BC artists."

- Shelley Frost, PNE President and CEO

Designed to amplify the work of both emerging and established artists, intake for applications for this program opens at PNE.ca today. Artists working individually or in collaboration are invited to submit proposals that reflect our shared values, create new artistic opportunities, and fill gaps not currently supported by existing PNE grant programs. Funding is available through three (3) distinct streams:

  • Stream 1 – Creation: Grants for the creation, production, and presentation of a new original work of art.

  • Stream 2 – Community: Grants to support collaborative arts projects that engage communities, schools, or underrepresented groups in meaningful, participatory ways.

  • Stream 3 – Career Growth: Grants to support professional development opportunities for artists at any stage of their career.

“We are proud to be investing in the future of British Columbia's emerging artists, creative entrepreneurs, and local talent. The Arts & Culture Grant Program reflects our shared values with the PNE of enriching the quality of life in our community by creating memorable experiences. Together, we're not just building the spectacular Freedom Mobile Arch - we're building a stronger, more vibrant arts community for all British Columbians to enjoy."

- Jean B. Péladeau, Sr. Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer, Freedom Mobile

Submissions must be made online at PNE.ca, with the portal opening today, August 16th and closing November 15th, 2025 at 5:00pm (Pacific Time). Following the grant awards in January 2026, the PNE will work closely with successful applicants to establish project timelines and support the development of their work.
